G'day all, I was wondering if the shaft size on the ifs steering boxes are the same as the std live axle models. The shaft that attaches to the steering colomn, I picked up a box yesterday in readiness for my high steer conversion next weekend, and just want to be sure. If not I will do a quick dash to the wrecker I bought it from, and pick up the bit that goes between the flexy coupling and fits onto the spline. thanks D.D.

Thanks for that, one less thing to worry about, I keep thinking there will be some hold up, and a part I won't be able to get on the weekend. I want to have the high steer conversion completed on Saturday, fingers crossed. Parts left out cost nothing, and cause no service problems, keep it simple.

I'm pretty sure the solid axle steering colomn shaft will be too short for the cross over conversion. You want to tuck the box as far forward as you can. You can get one of the holes on the side of the chasis to line up but the others will have to be fabed to suit. Try getting the whole steering colomn from the ifs setup as I think these are longer and saves you cutting the shaft and extending.
my 2 cents

Yep, I had to extend the steering shaft 30 mm on mine. Are you going a flat pitman arm? I would be more concerned about getting the box positioned correctly and not worry too much about using existing holes.
Are you using ATF or power steering fluid? Toyota calls for dexron 2 and wont leak pass seals like PS fluid.

Pretty sure if you get the shaft off a non power steering gen 2 lux they are longer and they bolt straight up without you having to modify them.
